Salt Lake City, Utah (UT) is located in the north-central area of the state near the Great Salt Lake. It is the capital and largest city in Utah. Home to the International Headquarters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mormon history is the focus of many major tourist attractions. At the city’s heart, you will find Temple Square which is the location of the gigantic Temple built 1853-1893.
Having hosted the 2002 Winter Games, SLC is now a well-known ski destination. Salt Lake City is said to have some of the best and driest powder in the world because it is so far inland. There is also great snowmobiling, cross country skiing, backcountry cat and heli-skiing and ice staking at the Olympic Oval. In the summer there is biking, golfing, canoeing, and some of the most splendid hiking in the canyons of Utah.
Downtown Salt Lake City was laid out with wide blocks and broad streets, making it very easy to maneuver RV’s around town. This is a legacy of the Mormons who planned the city in 1847.
