Getting From the Airport to Your RV Rental
If you are flying into Orlando Airport on an international flight you may be required by the RV rental location to stay the first night at a local area hotel. The reason for this being that they want you well rested before getting behind the wheel of a vehicle that may be quite a bit larger than you are used to. Check to see if the hotel that you are staying at provides a free shuttle, as many of them do. So whether you are going to the hotel first or straight to the RV rental location you have a few options to get there.
- Taxis – Taxis are located on the arrival levels and are ready when you are. All taxicabs picking up at the airport are regulated by the City of Orlando’s Vehicle for Hire ordinance which requires fares to be determined by a taximeter. Flat rate fees are not authorized, so negotiating with the cab driver is not an option. Cabs charge by distance not by the person and usually accommodate up to 4 passengers.
- Shuttle Van – if you have a larger party going from the Orlando Airport to the RV rental location, a shuttle van may be a good option for you. Shuttle vans can accommodate more passengers and have more room for your luggage. Fares are charged per person depending on the length of your trip. Check out Mears Transportation for more information on pricing.
- Public Transport – Orlando also has an extensive bus and Sunrail System that connects to the Orlando Airport. The bus system in Orlando is the Lynx System. This will be your cheapest option. Make sure you leave yourself time as it will also be the most time-consuming option. With a little planning and a little more time, the Orlando transit system can get you from the Orlando Airport to your RV rental location.
